26 Jul What to do when your website traffic goes down during the Summer
You’re looking at your website traffic during this summer time and notice it isn’t quite up to normal levels, should you be concerned? Summertime lulls in traffic are completely normal. During this season a lot of people are away from their computers while on vacation or just being outside enjoying the sun. Typically website owners see less website traffic between May and September, as well as the last half of December.
The good news: Search Engines are blind to the seasons.
While less people may notice your latest blog post because they’re off at the beach. Search Engines are blind to the seasons. Instead of using the summer months to unwind view this as an opportunity to get a leg up on your competition and step up your SEO efforts.
The goal is to try and zig while others are zagging. For example: posting a blog post on a weekend would give you more attention since most other companies post during the week.
So how can you combat the summertime decline?
Here are my favorite 3 suggestions:
1. Run a campaign on Facebook
Facebook Advertising is one of the most cost effective ways to use your advertising budget. But remember to target a specific audience and your budget will go a lot further.
2. Make a Content Schedule for the upcoming months and write out a few blog posts
New content means more traffic from the search engines and more reasons for your audience to come back to your website for more information. Write out a simple schedule for the upcoming months and get a few blog posts under your belt. Traffic will inevitably rebound during the high months if you continue to produce new content.
3. Review your Search Engine Optimization efforts
Take a step back and do an SEO audit to your website. Did any errors come up? Also review the keywords you’re using in your website. Are you showing up for those keywords in the search engines? Is there any traffic coming from those keywords? With recent changes to Google’s algorithm, one of the best things you can do for your website’s SEO is to add content regularly to your website, are you including this in your marketing efforts?
What do you think? What is your favorite thing to do during the Summer to help further your Online Marketing efforts and increase your traffic?
